To be fair, she did go through a major change. Micheals) long before everything comes to a head. A lot of the stuff that happens at the end of the book would not have happened if she not only trusted Daemon, but trusted herself. I don't know why it never occurs to her to have Daemon train her. Its just heartbreaking to see the pain she causes Daemon by putting herself in danger. At this point, she hasn't met another hybrid. I have to wonder if maybe she feels like she needs to give him a chance because he is like her. She instead trusts another guy, one she just met, and has him train her. She doesn't trust Daemon when he makes it pretty clear how he feels about her, chalking it up to their "alien mojo bond". While this, understandably, freaks her out, she is a strong character, and takes it pretty well. Her DNA mutates, and now she is a hybrid. While Daemon saved her life in the first book by healing her, consequently, Katy changes. Right off the bat, she gets dangerously sick.
